About Me

Emma Snellgrove is a composer, musical director, arranger and audio engineer working primarily within the fields of theatre, live performance and film. Her passion for telling stories with music is supported by her expertise in all things sound.

As a composer and singer-songwriter, her music has been performed at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Cantabile Music Festival (2018); the Sutherland Shire Relay For Life (2020, 2021); Flightpath Theatre as part of New Voices (MUSE, 2022) and more. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Composition for Creative Industries from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she has studied under exceptional industry professionals, including Carl Vine, Andrew Callaghan, Paul Stanhope and more. A multi-instrumentalist and performer herself, Emma is comfortable working with a variety of sounds, from orchestras to synthesisers, to craft rich and unique musical experiences for her listeners. Most recently, she wrote and composed for ’Til Deals Do Us Part, an original comedic song cycle performed at Footbridge Theatre in 2025.

As an arranger and orchestrator, Emma has explored a variety of genres, from classical to pop, jazz to musical theatre. She achieved second place in the 2024 Music Arrangers’ Guild of Australia’s National Youth Music Arranging Competition. Other notable arranging projects include the mixed-genre cabaret Fairies Anonymous, and two original musical theatre works: The Debate Team and Where Life Suits Me.

Emma is an accomplished musical director and conductor, winning Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance for her role in The Regals Musical Society’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (2023). Most recently, she was the musical director for Fairies Anonymous, a brand-new mixed-genre cabaret performed at Sydney Fringe Festival 2025. Other notable musical director credits include the NSW premiere of Alice By Heart (The Musical Theatre Ensemble of the University of Sydney, 2024) and the upcoming Ride the Cyclone (Rising Arts Productions, 2026).

As an audio engineer, Emma has worked on multiple productions across Sydney, including Footloose (Engadine Musical Society, 2025), Fairies Anonymous (Ruby Monkey Productions, 2025) and The Full Monty (Miranda Musical Theatre Company, 2024). Recently, she was Sound Assistant for Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, performed at Hayes Theatre Company (Pinwheel Productions, 2025). She also works in sound design, most notably for Pinwheel Production’s The Long Dark, performed at the Newcastle Fringe Festival.
